Hello!
My Veteran’s Day holiday was spent catching up on some of my crafty endeavors, including these Felt Christmas Trees. Mum came over with 4 styrofoam cones, 2 yards of felt and four packages of gold head pins. We managed to make 2 of them this afternoon; Mum took them home to display on the mantle.
They were really pretty easy to make. We cut out over 100 felt circles, each about 2″ in diameter. Then we layered the circles around the base of the cone, inserting a pin in the center of each circle. At the top, we used a little hot glue to secure the three circles and make them come to a point.
Mum left me with 2 cones and the remaining fabric. I think I’m going to have Ben cut down one of the cones to make it shorter. Then, I’ll buy one more cone, so I can display a group of three trees on the top of my Expedit for Christmas.
Hope you have a great weekend with Mum and Daddy! We’ll be wishing we were with you!
Much love,
Kerstin
Happy Belated Fall!
I know I’m a little late in posting my harvest centerpiece, but it’s only November, right? This centerpiece has donned my table since mid October, and I must say, I love it!

I gathered some leaves, pressed them between pages in a book, sprinkled the edges with fine gold glitter, and tacked them onto the square vase with a little double-sided tape. I inserted an ivory pillar candle and surrounded the vase with walnuts and a few mini pumpkins. Pretty, right?

Dear Anne,
I was shopping yesterday and saw these great Christmas trees in Anthropologie (my favorite store). How easy would these be to make? Mum and I are looking to make the felt one, perhaps a grouping in different sizes. Wouldnt’ they look great once I take my fall harvest decorations down from the top of the Expedit?
The felt one is a Styrofoam cone layered with felt circles. The felt is held on with pearl head pins. Genius!
Miss you and see you in a couple weeks!

Hi!
Ben wants an Advent Calendar, so obviously I’m setting out to make one, not buy one. I’ve come across this Embroidered Felt Advent Calendar from the purl bee, which I LOVE! I’m not sure the purl bee has ever posted a project that I haven’t wanted to make immediately.
For our Advent Calendar, I decided to change up the colors a little to go with our decor (I use the word decor lightly, mind you). I’ve taken out the pink felt and added a lighter blue felt instead. Check back soon for a completed Advent Calendar, ready in time to use this year!
Love,
Kerstin
Dear Anna-Lisa,
I have finally settled on what I’m making everyone for Christmas this year. You won’t be seeing much until after Christmas; I don’t want to ruin the surprise! (Maybe for once we won’t tell each other what we’re giving each other for Christmas.)

This delightful package arrived for me today from Loop. It contains the materials for a knit gift that will make your heart melt, it’s so cute!

This is the Hoot Hat from Spud & Chloe. I’m making this for my youngest nephew. I got enough of the Carbon Grey Outer to make my older nephew a hat, too.
For my two nieces, I’m making a Pick Up Sticks game with a little fabric pouch to store it in, and a Memory game from wooden tiles and pretty fabric. Both of those ideas are from Chez Beeper Bebe. I shouldn’t have written all this here because I may change my mind, but these are my ideas as of now.
As for you, little missy, I have something very special planned. You’ll have to wait, but Christmas is only a couple months away! I’m looking forward to the third year of Handmade Holidays in November over at Sew, Mama, Sew! because I always find inspiration there. Check out their archives, they are full of crafty goodness.
Love you lots,
Kerstin
